El Castillo de Chapultepec
The first mansion-studio in the world
El Castillo de Chapultepec, located in the 5th Section of Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, is a nonprofit cultural project in development managed by the architecture office APRDELESP: a superlocal site of artistic, economic, spatial, political, and social research and experimentation driven by the desire to imagine alternatives built from the memory and labor of active people and collectives related to the local artistic community.1 The experiment begins with the architectural design of the building in which it is located, along with the design of the governance of the project and the administration of its resources (space, time, money, et cetera), to think about the cultural infrastructures that host our dialogues, critiques, thoughts, differences, interests, et cetera. 2
It consists of an archive, a collection, a garden, a kiosk, a library, a lobby, a printing press, a salon, et cetera.
